The Carter G. Woodson School motto is, “strive to excel, not to equal.” These words challenge us every day at Carter G. Woodson School. No one could have imagined educating during a global pandemic. Yet, we have educated and our students and school continue to flourish.
During this global pandemic, we have provided devices for every child. We have assisted families with the internet. Carter G. Woodson School developed a communication team that visited with families during remote learning. In addition, we have provided so many opportunities for our students to stay involved and connected to the school during remote earning by earning cash and other prizes with our incentive program.
As we transition from a pandemic, “to a can-demic to a win-demic,” we are poised to continue to provide our students the very best education. Carter G. Woodson School is prepared for the 2021-2022 school year. We are hiring more personnel for academic support. We are providing an after-school program for our students. We do not believe in the concept of learning loss. We believe in unfinished learning. We are going to provide our students more instructional time.
Carter G. Woodson School is a full STEAM academy. We provide excellent instruction in science. All of our teachers are being trained in computer science; we are teaching our students computer coding. We provide students instruction in agriculture, with our school farm and our arts program includes visual and performing arts. Plus, our math instruction is bolstered with an excellent curriculum. Every student has access to devices and technology. Every classroom will be equipped with smartboards, cameras, and mic systems. Carter G. Woodson is going to create a first-class stem lab; whereby, students will be taught coding, robotics, and the hard sciences.
Carter G. Woodson School is prepared for educating the future. We are thankful for our great legacy and the continuing support of our community. Our school is rooted in social justice and valuing our stellar cultural and ancestral heritage. As the school leader, I am here to ensure that your child receives the very best education, and they leave Carter G. Woodson School with the desire to pursue excellence and the charge to make the world anew. I am always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have, and I am willing to work with all of our families to achieve the very best educational outcome for their children
