Ms. Russell serves as our graduation coach. She comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge on post-secondary high school options. At Carter G. Woodson School, 100% of our students will have post-high school options including four-year university, two-year technical training, or the military. Over 88% of our graduates attend four-year universities after high school.

Attention Seniors – Please sure to complete FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as early as possible (opened October 1st) to secure federal grants, loans, and work-study funds. Complete NC Residency before you apply to NC Colleges and Universities to determine eligibility for in-state tuition and state grants.

SAT Information
The SAT is an admission test for college. Most four-year colleges require students to submit admission test scores as part of the application process. All the UNC system schools accept the SAT. High SAT scores will enable students to receive scholarship money.

Driver's Education
Click here for access to the online course (14.5 years old and older only).
There is a $45 fee for the class. A $45.00 fee is now required to be paid by the first three days of class. Students that are dismissed from driver education class due to behavior or attendance problems will not be allowed to take driver education a second time through the Winston Salem/Forsyth County School System.
Driver Eligibility Certificate (DEC)
To obtain your DEC, you must bring the following items to the Guidance Office:
- Original or certified copy of your birth certificate
- Social security card
- Current report card
- Driver Education Certificate provided to you by your driving instructor once you complete the driving portion of your course
- A parent or legal guardian must come to school to sign and date the DEC in the presence of the Guidance Department staff.
Students must be passing 70% of their courses to be eligible to receive a Driver Eligibility Certificate.
